Southwest Airlines Coming to a City Near You

With nearly 43 years of successful operations Southwest Airline has provided great service to Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. The airline has been restricted from operating outside of Texas and its neighboring states since 1979. Late this year that will all change with the removal of the final piece of the Wright Amendment, a law that stated that a plane bigger than 56 seats could only fly from Dallas Love Field to other cities in Texas along with a few nearby states. Furthermore, a passenger who wanted to connect to another city beyond those connecting states was unable too!

In October of this year (2014), Southwest Airlines will finally be able to provide customers with direct flights to most major American cities. The new service makes life much easier for leisure and business travelers alike.

First, Southwest’s largest focus cities will have non-stop flights starting October 13, 2014: Baltimore, Denver, Las Vegas, Orlando, and Chicago Midway. Starting in November 2, 2014 Southwest Airline’s direct flight service will include: Atlanta, Nashville, Washington D.C. (Reagan), Ft. Lauderdale, New York (LaGuardia), Phoenix, San Diego, Orange County, and Tampa.

Finally, for the first time in the airlines 43-year history international destinations to Aruba, Jamaica, and the Bahamas will start in July of 2014.

Southwest Airlines has provided wonderful service to the southwest for years and it will now be bringing that service across the country!
